Why you should volunteer with the BAYS Organization?

Why you should volunteer with the BAYS Organization?

BAYS is a nonprofit (501c3) organization that provides recreational opportunities for thousands of children in our community. Your community. From coaching, to painting lines, to fundraising, to being on the sidelines cheering for the kids… each person makes a difference.  The BAYS organization is run 100% by volunteers.

Do you know that some kids may not get to play because there are not enough coach volunteers? Did you know that each month the Board votes on a volunteer of the month? Their name is posted on our website for outstanding support to our community and the BAYS organization.

What is in it for our volunteers? The sense of pride for playing a role in a great organization, helping the community, being a role model for your child, giving back to an organization that gives a lot to families, or perhaps developing a new skill for yourself. You never know what connection you may make while volunteering- perhaps it is a new business connection, a new friend, or a future carpooler! Our children love seeing us as part of their lives.

There are many regular volunteers that make volunteering a priority and we thank you for that choice. However, we need more parents to step forward to help our organization be more successful for our young athletes to become future leaders. We are interested in hearing from you. Please reach out to us to let us know what you can do to add to this recreational community. We have a number of opportunities for family involvement, including, but not limited to:

Our snack shack at Broadneck Park was a huge success last summer. We made over $1000 selling snowballs. It was run by volunteers. If we want Broadneck Park to be a great family spot to build memories, we need volunteers to make it work. We are looking for someone to spearhead this project!

Our first Bull & Oyster Roast was a huge success. A few volunteers put that together and we raised over $4000 for the Paul Dettor Memorial Foundation. We would like to have another one this fall.  Volunteers can make this year even bigger and better!

We all wear our “busy parent” badge with honor, but as we enter the spring season, please consider trying a new role as a BAYS volunteer.

Please contact Heather Terech, VPActivities@broadneckyouthsports.com, to volunteer or find out more information about these opportunities.

How you spend your volunteer time is a personal choice and we hope you chose BAYS.

Thank you in advance for making a difference in your community!

BAYS
